Midfielders, forwards and defenders who rely on a first touch and a clean pass rather than pace, and anyone who wants a softer, more accommodating fit than a speed silo gives.
Yes, they are among the most accommodating cleats Nike makes.
The Tiempo is Nike's touch and control line, and it changed shape in January 2026. The Tiempo Legend, which carried the silo for four decades, has been replaced by two models: the Tiempo Maestro at the top and the Tiempo Ligera underneath it. Both are built for players who dictate tempo through close control and the ability to dribble past a defender rather than sprint past one, and both moved the Tiempo away from natural leather for the first time.
The Nike Tiempo Maestro is built on two changes. Techleather is an engineered synthetic upper, soft and adaptive and softer than natural leather, and its consistency in wet or dry conditions is the point, because real leather changes behavior once it gets wet. Underfoot sits the Maestro360, the first split plate Nike has put on a Tiempo, which lets the upper wrap the arch of the foot for a glove-like fit and lets the foot twist as you open your body to receive rather than sitting on a rigid board.
Bladed studs at the heel and forefoot give traction on a linear sprint, and twisted conical studs help you plant and pivot. An integrated knit collar and reinforced eye stays hold the midfoot. Wear testers do report one limit: the tech is close to K-leather on softness but a step short of its natural give on the heaviest driven pass.
The Tiempo Ligera is the takedown of the Maestro and it is genuinely lighter, around 30 grams less in the same size. It keeps the Techleather upper and the signature Tiempo ball touch, then swaps the split sole for a one-piece conical outsole that sits you closer to the ground with a stable, predictable feel.
It also brings back a traditional fold-over tongue on select versions, with a heritage design that nods to the old Super Ligera. If you value certainty underfoot over the twist and roll of the Maestro, the Ligera is the better boot, not the cheaper compromise. Between the two it is a question of preference, not tier.
The Legend line closed with the Maestro launch, which makes the remaining Legend stock the last of a run that shaped the silo. Legend models still use the classic construction, and for players who want that specific feel there is no current replacement. They discount as the new lineup fills in, so if a Legend fits you, this is the window.
Nike sells the Tiempo at four levels and the shape holds as you move down. Elite carries the full Techleather and Maestro360 package. Pro and Academy keep the silhouette and most of the touch with simpler materials, and Academy is where most weekly soccer players land. Club is the entry point and covers youth sizing, with the comfort of the silo intact. On a control boot the gap between tiers matters less than it does on a speed silo, because the Tiempo was never chasing grams.
Firm ground covers natural grass and most league play. FG/MG plates handle both natural and artificial surfaces. AG spreads shorter studs for synthetic pitches. Nike turf shoes use a rubber nub pattern for short synthetic fields and training, and indoor models run flat for court play. The latest Tiempo lineup carries one of the deepest surface ranges Nike offers, which is part of why it suits players who train as often as they play.
Black is the most requested Tiempo finish; browse black Nike cleats for the run, with white, blue, pink and silver releases each season. Youth sizing runs through the Academy and Club tiers, and Nike youth soccer cleats covers the full kids range across every silo. Nike Elite gathers the top tier across lines. Within the wider Nike range, choose Tiempo for touch and close control, Phantom for grip and striking, and Mercurial for speed.
